Soybean curry

Mostly i purchase soybeans from the Price chopper in canned Form and when your in a hurry to prepare some thing then this is the dish you can think of making it  . I make a point at least once in a week i cook any kind of legume (beans) to go with a meal which is healthy to eat .if you don’t like the canned form you can also soak  1 day ahead and pressure cook them until soft then start preparing this dish .

Ingredients:

1 cup Soybeans

l lemon sized Tamarind (Place it in the 1/4 cup Hot water to extract the Pulp from Tamarind)

1 Onion Thinly Sliced

6 garlic cloves finely chopped

Red chilly Powder – 1 Tsp

Coriander powder  1 tbsp

Turmeric – 1/2 Tsp
Salt – As Required

Curry Leaves-Few Sprigs

To Temper :

Mustard Seeds – 1 Tsp

Fenugreek Seeds-1/2 Tsp

Chana Dal- 1 Tbsp

Oil- 1Tbsp

METHOD To Prepare:

    1. Heat Pan with oil and Temper the following items listed above then add Garlic Cloves and  thinly sliced Onions and Fry until golden brown in color  then add curry leaves and Red chilly powder and coriander Powder & Turmeric when al l the dry ingredients get mixed well Add  Soybeans Let them fry until all the dry ingredients gets coated well with beans add Salt. Add Tamarind Extract to the Gravy .Adjust water according to the consistency of gravy let them cook for a while and Transfer to the serving bowl .
